Dear Friends,
Occasionally, I watch CNN mostly to get headlines. It seems lately they devote more and more time to a special feature called “i-report.” Perhaps, you know what I’m talking about. They invite viewers to send in stories with photos and videos of what’s happening in their neighborhood, news they witness unfolding before their eyes. Lately, I have been wanting to get i-reports from you about what God is doing in your life. Frequently, there are people who tell me as they are walking out of church “Oh, Pastor Amber, I have something to talk to you about.” What a cliffhanger! Of course, there are probably a variety of things that could mean…some joyous, some serious.
First, I want to assure you that my door is always open. I’m usually in the office most days until mid-afternoon, or you can always call or email me. Indeed, I have gotten occasional replies to this e-devotional and appreciate your comments, especially to know when God has touched you. Second, I want to solicit your i-reports this week on two subjects….
1) On Sunday, we talked about spiritual growth. I’d like to hear how you are growing spiritually. What’s making the difference between none or little fruit and much fruit, as John says? How do you remain in the vine?
2) What ways are you involved in our Cutler Ridge community? I mean primarily in volunteer capacities, but I know many of you may work in non-profit/public settings. In that case, feel free to let me know if there’s something special that you are part of that is touching the lives of others.
Feel free to email me (amber.massingill@flumc.org) for one or both of these subjects. Your responses will help me for the upcoming sermon series in November. (Of course, it will be kept anonymous unless you want to give a testimony yourself!). We’ll be talking about questions that all of us wrestle with at one time or another, especially at transitions in life whether that be in between jobs, going off to college, or seeing kids off to college¾ What on Earth Am I Here For? Are There Others Like Me? Who am trying to be? What Am I Supposed To Be Doing? Do I Have a Mission? Don’t forget this is a perfect time of year to invite someone to church and November 1st is Friends & Family Sunday.
Peace,
Pastor Amber
