Dear Friends,
It was great to see everyone Sunday after being away for vacation, especially to see Nancy B. back in church after so many months away due to her cancer treatments. Prayer really does work! Nancy has felt God’s strength and has hope for her future. Thanks be to God and you her faithful friends!
What did you do with the invitation that you received? I hope it didn’t slip your mind or get misplaced. No, I’m not talking about an invitation to a relative’s wedding or some other event. I’m talking about God’s invitation to you! God offers each one of us an invitation to a relationship with Him. And it’s an invitation that requires an RSVP. Some of us have already said “yes!” like the invited guests in the Great Dinner parable. Yet, we must be careful not to make excuses and fail to show up when God calls us. Others haven’t replied yet. Maybe you’re procrastinating? Waiting to see if you get a better invitation? Maybe like invitations we receive in the mail, God’s invitation has just gotten buried under the junk that piles up?
Friends, don’t delay! Don’t neglect the most important invitation of your life! God is invites you and me to something priceless, an experience of a lifetime, a relationship like no other. When you left church on Sunday, you received a mock invitation to consider. Here is what I asked you to fill in: What is God inviting you to? How are you responding? For those who haven’t said yes to a relationship with Jesus, I hope you will respond by saying, “Yes, Lord, I accept your invitation to a life of love in Christ. ” For those who have said yes and are attending God’s banquet, what else is part of the invitation for you? Is God asking you to invite others? To serve at His table in some way? To celebrate with more joy? All of the above? I encourage you to fill out the paper and keep it in your bible, on your dashboard, on your desk or fridge. God never ceases to invite us; He eagerly awaits your response.
This Sunday is Holy Communion and we’ll be talking about the Parable of the Two Debtors (Luke 7) with the theme of Forgiveness. See you there!
Peace,
Pastor Amber
